Make a Choice

The principles of Chi Living are based on the wisdom from the ancient martial art, T’ai Chi and infused in all of our offerings: this web site, our books, DVD’s, audio programs, classes and workshops. These mindful principles support you in making conscious choices, day-to-day, moment-by-moment.

Knowledge becomes wisdom when it is grounded in experience. In Chi Walking and Chi Running you will learn five mindful steps, which, when practiced, can be transferred to any area of your life; your work, relationships, health, or any aspect of self discovery:

  • Get Aligned
  • Engage your core
  • Create Balance
  • Make a Choice
  • Move Forward

Make a Choice is at the heart of what we teach, as that is where the "rubber meets the road." As Professor Dumbledore said to Harry Potter, “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” The first three steps prepare you to make a mindful choice from your own internal wisdom.

With practice, you will get so good at making the best choices for yourself and moving forward with those choices, that life won’t seem as stressful and your strong center and your flexible attitude will become your norm. It’s known as mindful living and it's what we call Chi Living.

Over the past 45 years, I have trained for and run a race of one mile or longer every year but one. I worked my way up to running marathons, but in 1982 began experiencing knee pain – ultimately in both knees.
