Amy Peacock, owner of VirtualAthlete, LLC, is a certified personal trainer and a certified ChiRunning and ChiWalking Instructor. As a fitness trainer and runner her goal is to teach you how to run, walk and exercise in a way that reduces injury and stress while enhancing energy efficiency, health and joy.
She knows that having a focused mind during exercise, good nutrition and a supportive community is medicine for the mind, body & spirit.
Her athletic background started early. At age six she started playing soccer. At age 13 she started her first fitness business. She played on the University of Georgia women’s club soccer team (now NCAA Div1) in 1990 and 1991. She san her first marathon, The Marine Corps Marathon, in 1997 and became hooked on running.
Since then, she has run the Army 10 miler, the Cherry Blossom 10K, several 5Ks in Washington DC and Virginia, Big Sur half marathon, a Spartan Sprint at the US National Whitewater Center, CPPC Skyline Run, and yearly runs for the Babes with Brains Team for the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation Run in Atlanta.
After graduating from University of Georgia Grady college with a Degree in Journalism and a double minor in Political Science and Business, she sold life, disability and health insurance with Northwestern Mutual to individuals and business, and later led an exciting career with e-centives, Inc. as VP of Strategic Alliances.
Now, in addition to working as an instructor and raising her children, she has focused on helping people in the community. She has supported ALS and Cancer research, awareness and patient services and served on the board of Girls on the Run, Inc. for 3 years. She launched care teams at her church and now serves on the every member has a ministry team as a mentor. In January 2013 she helped launch a free females workout group called http://www.fianation.com.
Currently she serves on Charlotte Mecklenburg Livable Communities workgroup and is co-founder of the Active Charlotte Alliance.
She is married and has 2 active children and a Gordon Setter (who loves to run at least 6 miles a day).
