I first discovered running when I was 31 years of age while attending graduate orthodontic school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Needing a break from “the books”, I decided to walk to the post office two miles away but it was taking too long to get there. So, I started jogging. That was the day I discovered the fun and eventual benefits of running and physical activity. I have continued to practice this lifestyle and promote it by working part time as a personal trainer with certifications as a Personal Trainer and a Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine.
As the years passed, my running skills begin to decline. I had always believed that running more efficiently was the answer to improving my runs and avoiding injury versus running more miles, especially since recurring injuries were a problem as my mileage increased. For me, ChiRunning solved the efficiency and injury issues. It works well because it is taught by feeling the correct form and then using video to see the form that is being felt.
