After years of living a sedentary lifestyle and suffering the health-related effects, I became serious about running as part of a diet and exercise program. While I enjoyed running, I was chronically injured and dreaded the pain that always followed.
When researching cures for running-related injuries (shin splints, knee pain, lower back pain) and trying the recommended treatments, I kept seeing websites and videos about ChiRunning. Could I really avoid injuries by changing the way I was running? Being able to address the source of the problems made a lot more sense than only treating the symptoms. Intrigued at the concept, I purchased the book and DVD and attempted to learn on my own.
While I did see some improvements in my running by applying the techniques shown in the book and on the DVD, I always felt that I was missing something. It was not until I attended a week-long ChiRunning seminar taught by Danny Dreyer (founder of ChiRunning) that I experienced the breakthrough I was seeking. The week was filled with ‘ah-ha’ moments as all the pieces of the ChiRunning technique came together and I truly felt the pure joy of running.
The transformation I have experienced with consistent practice of ChiRunning has been nothing short of profound. Running not only became effortless, but much more enjoyable. I have avoided injuries, been able to run distances I never thought possible and have made significant improvements in my race times.
My experiences with ChiRunning led me to become a certified ChiRunning and ChiWalking Instructor so that I could share the joy of running with others.
