I discovered running in 2004 and was immediately fascinated by how the body works and how it can adapt and improve given certain stimuli. I was keen to improve my technique so after a great deal of research and trial and error I discovered the Chi Running method.
In May 2010 I attended an inspirational workshop with Danny Dreyer. This encouraged me to train to become one of only a handful of Certified Chi Running Instructors in the UK. As part of my certification process I assisted Master Instructors Marion Meesters in Amsterdam (May 2012) and Catherina McKiernan in Dublin (June 2012).
I’m passionate about running and believe Chi Running can help people to rediscover the joy and excitement of running as well as improve efficiency and reduce the risk of injury. I love teaching and find it satisfying when I can help someone improve their skill and fitness, achieve their goals and improve their lives.
I run regular Chi Running Workshops in London and around the UK. Each workshop includes, video analysis, a free follow-up session at the London Chi Running Club where time is spent on particular focuses before heading out for a run around some of London’s open spaces to put them into practice. I also offer 1-2-1 and small group sessions by appointment.
I am a member of REPs the UK’s Register of Exercise Professionals and also offer bespoke resistance (strength, power and endurance) programmes to complement your Chi Running training as required.
I run and train in minimalist shoes and barefoot as I believe this promotes better posture, proprioception and balance, helping develop a stronger core and natural movement. Whilst this is not a prerequisite for my clients I believe the Chi Running technique lends itself perfectly to running in less supportive, cushioned shoes.
I have run marathons, several half marathons, numerous 10ks. I’m currently training for my first ultra-marathon in 2014.
