Hi, I had just started using Chi running later this summer, transititioning from doing the short shuffle that Jeff Galloway was having me doing to be able to go longer in my distances, but instead I wound up with a severe Pitiformus issues… I’m currently on hiatus from Running to rest, do strength training and some Physical Therapy. Doctor’s had thought it was a nerve problem but I didn’t have any loss of feeling or tinglingness in my lower legs… most of my pain is more discomfort that really pain, with the exception that when I got past 8 to 10 miles.. then I had Pain, but that I think was due to just being on my legs too long.
‘m Hoping to get back to running running again in January. So beginning in the New year, I decided that I will just stick to 5k’s and 10k’s since I could run with periodic walk breaks at those distance with out any discomfort issues. I hope? Doctors said that if it is a never issue that I may have to quit running? Yikes!
I just think that I’,m going to have to find a more comfortable way to run, I know that by doing short little choppy shuffle strides is not the answer as it seemed to cause my hips and muscles to tighten up. I’m going to have to learn to run longer in my run/walk intervals, and relax my stride so that it’s not too short and not too long(over striding) Hopefully I can get my upper body, core and pelvic muscles strengthened up by January so I can get back to running again… I really miss it.
