I am running in a half marathon in November. The only time I am able to run is early in the morning. I get up, put on my shoes and go out for my run without eating anything. This has not been a problem so far in my training as my longest run has been only six miles. However, In my 12 week training program I am scheduled to run as far as 12 miles. Is it okay to run long distances before eating anything in the morning. I already get up as early as 4:00 to go running so I don’t want to get up any earlier to eat something before running. Any advice?
In my case, I normally run on an empty stomach for distances up to four miles only without problems, but after that, I begin to feel the lack of energy. So what I did to feel energized, I eat sports bar, but I wait an hour before running to give it time to digest.
