Hi! After many years of short distance running and triathlons with no major injuries, I recently (last year or so) began picking up intensity of workouts and competed in my first half marathon (Baltimore half - LOVED it!). I began training for my first marathon using the Run Less, Run Faster (or FIRST) training method and promptly tore my meniscus and also bruised the top of my tibia (no micro or stress fractures thank goodness). Arthroscopic surgery on the meniscus was successful but my doctor has advised the bone bruise will take longer to heal (4 - 6 months approximately). I have been able to begin cycling and swimming with no issues but any attempts to run are still a bit painful. When am I am able to run pain free again, the Chi Running method seems very appealing. Have you seen runners with similar issues / injuries be able to come back and still participate in long distance events injury free with Chi Running? Even at, let’s call it “mature” ages? I just turned 50 and refuse to use the “old” word : ).
Thanks for any words of advice.
