I use the Leming (A name that was changed) minimalist shoes for some of my runs. I personally think that you have to be very care. I tend to get a sore left calf. Although running in a pair of minimalist shoe, aka “barefoot”, is supposed to improve your form it only goes so far. I noticed less strain on my calf when I concentrated on being “flatfooted”. Even landing just *slightly* on my heal caused some pain. I also have to focus closely on being light footed as well as trying to keep my calves relaxed. So running in minimalist shoes is fine but it is imperative to run with good form. My next step is to incorporate regularly calf’s strengthening and stretching exercises. So running in minimalist shoes is do-able but some precaution is needed.
P.S. The Leming shoe is more of a minimalist shoe than others that claimed to be.
